Qatar to Build a Luxury Floating Hotel That Generates Electricity

Qatar plans to build an eco-friendly floating hotel that rotates to generate its own electricity via solar, wind, and tidal energy.

The luxury hotel being developed in Qatar will have 152 rooms and will occupy a construction area of 35,000 square metres.

Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio [HAADS], a Turkish architectural design company, revealed the impressive design of the hotel on Instagram recently with details about its features.

According to Hayri Atak, the 152 rooms of the luxury hotel will be designed to decrease energy loss and reduce waste production. Each room has its own balcony, offering guests different perspectives as the building revolves.

The hotel will also incorporate rainwater harvesting—the vortex-inspired roof collects rainwater that can be treated and used as greywater or to water the green areas of the hotel. Clean water will be obtained by purifying seawater and wastewater will be treated as not to harm the environment.

In addition, Hayri Atak has said that the hotel is planned for Qatar but it also has the potential to be located in different areas due to its characteristic mobile feature.
