Adidas Originals has announced a collaboration with Ravi, a long-running Dubai eatery. The family-owned restaurant, which has been offering authentic Pakistani food at an affordable price range since 2978, has a particular place in the hearts of many locals.
The aesthetic of the Superstar Ravi edition will be familiar to fans of Adidas original’s superstar shoe. The colorway combines two colors of green with an off-white leather body, with a hand-drawn map of the river (or Ravi) in Northeast Pakistan on the sock liner.
On the back, the restaurant’s name is written in English on one foot and Arabic on the other, along with the year it opened. The tongue is designed with hero dishes, and the box packaging includes lime-green tissue paper and a cardboard ‘takeaway’ type box. RAVI founder, Chaudary Abdul Hameed said “My family has worked so hard to bring Ravi to where it is now, it has become more than just a restaurant with staff and customers, it has become a home that many grew up with. To say that Ravi had a humble beginning and is now representing Dubai as a key city with Adidas is a milestone to celebrate.”
The shoe is part of the Adidas Original ‘adilicious’ series, in which the brand collaborates with 11 community-driven eateries in 11 different locations around the world. Set in the heart of AL Satwa, Ravi around the world has become synonymous with family, community, and culture, with stories of three generations of employees working in the same restaurant.
Adidas collaborated directly with the owner on the Superstar Ravi, which will be available from June 23 for Dhs549 via Adidas. ae and certain stores exclusive to Dubai.
