The UK Super Muslim Comedy Tour hopes to prove while celebrating the powers of Muslim comedy in aid of charity, that laughter can be the best medicine after the two years of lockdowns, restrictions, isolation, and highly contagious variants.
The show’s host, British-Pakistani actor and comedian Abdullah Afzal told Arab News that they couldn’t do the tour last year because of the covid-19 pandemic. Afzal hopes to entertain the crowd double the amount with double the energy that they will bring which was taken away from them after the sudden covid-19 outbreak and being forced to stray away from performing.
The tour begins in London and travels north to ten cities, including Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow, where all tickets have been sold out. Afzal hopes people come out and celebrate. This year’s program includes some old favorites as well as some newcomers, but none of them seemed interested in making jokes about the pandemic.
Fatiha El-Ghorri, a Moroccan native who was born in the United Kingdom, was back for the second time. The 40-year-old from east London is known for pushing the boundaries with her comedy and jokes on her experiences and observations of marriage, relationships, dating, and wearing the hijab. She is relieved and happy to be back to performing physical events. She will not be using coronavirus as a basis for her jokes during the tour, because it was difficult times for everybody and she’s glad to see things start to get better.
This year’s earnings and funds earned will go to the international humanitarian charity’s Thirst Relief campaign, which aims to provide safe and clean drinking water to underprivileged communities across the world and is organized by the UK-based Penny Appeal.
So fasten your capes and pick up your tickets to play a SUPER role in giving the gift of water today.
