Solo travel can be a wondrous and a life changing experience that’s on everyone’s list, however like many others, it has its difficulties. As a woman, especially as a Muslim woman you may have some unsaid doubts about it. But it can still be done with just a bit of planning. A way to explore the globe without having to compromise your safety. Here are a few tips on how to get you started;
Preparations and Planning
As you would be travelling alone you’d have to depend on no one other than yourself to get things done from A to Z. Everything from booking the ticket, reservations at your destination and how you get yourself there, with all of those in-between bits too.
Wherever your destination is, you should try your best to have a course travel plan. It doesn’t need to be too detailed, only a rough idea of the places that you would like to see each day. This would help you know the potential difficulties that may arise in your trip and help manage your predictions best. This would also help make your journey more safe and minimize your time pondering over what to do next.
How to choose your Destination Carefully
Personal safety and access to religious amenities (e.g. prayer areas) would be on of the highest priorities as a Muslimah, and there are quite a few destinations that cater to your well-being and needs more than the rest. OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) destinations include,
Qatar, Turkey, Maldives, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Book Your In-Flight Meal
While booking your flight, you will have to make sure that you have selected the most suitable in-flight meal and remind yourself to confirm it before the day of your flight. If your chosen airline doesn’t offer a Halal option then your next most appropriate option would be vegan. Although, nowadays most airline do offer halal meals when requested in advance.
Be In Touch
Once your plan is complete it’s time to share it with your family and friends. Whenever you’re able to, you should keep updating your loved ones, this way if any changes do occur then they would be aware of your well-being. This would give them a peace of mind and will come in handy if you need any help.
