The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched a transformative initiative to position Hong Kong as a top Muslim-friendly travel destination. In partnership with CrescentRating, the global authority on halal tourism, this effort reflects the city’s dedication to inclusivity and innovation.
CrescentRating has assessed 39 hotels and major attractions in Hong Kong, with standout properties like Kowloon Shangri-La and Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel earning Level 5 CrescentRatings. Additionally, MICE venues have been certified to ensure seamless experiences for Muslim travelers.
A culinary milestone has also been achieved, with Chinesology, a fine-dining Chinese restaurant, becoming the city’s first Muslim-friendly high-end dining option. This highlights Hong Kong’s commitment to diversifying its tourism offerings.
Targeting growing Muslim travel markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, HKTB has introduced multi-language resources, a dedicated Muslim visitor webpage, and strategic promotions in key regions.
This initiative is more than just certification—it’s about fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment. By embracing diversity, Hong Kong is setting a global example of how inclusivity can drive tourism growth and enrich travel experiences.
Congratulations to HKTB and CrescentRating for leading this inspiring journey toward making Hong Kong a model of inclusive tourism.
