The Halal Product Assurance Body (BPJPH) of Indonesia is expanding its focus beyond food and beverages to include the fashion industry. Starting in October 2026, clothing will also require halal certification. To support this transition, BPJPH has launched the Indonesia Global Halal Fashion (IGHF) initiative, unveiled at the Indonesia Fashion Week in March 2024. This initiative aims to promote Indonesian modest fashion on the global stage and integrate halal standards into the fashion sector.
Through collaboration with industry stakeholders and fashion associations, BPJPH seeks to strengthen the halal fashion ecosystem. The goal is to foster growth in local modest fashion, enhance the quality and availability of halal textiles, and boost exports to key markets such as OIC countries, the Middle East, and Europe. This effort positions Indonesia as a leading center for halal modest fashion, leveraging its current third-place ranking in global modest fashion to achieve further prominence.
