Muslim travelers to Antarctica will soon enjoy meals from a fully Halal-certified kitchen, thanks to Albatros Expeditions’ pioneering Halal project, the first in the polar industry. The Halal-certified kitchen is set to commence operations in 2026.
The initiative, led by Rashidah Lim, Albatros Expeditions’ South-East Asia business development manager and the polar industry’s only female Muslim expedition leader, aims to create an inclusive environment for Muslim guests. Rashidah is supported by her colleagues in marketing, business development, and product divisions. Jens Rasmussen, COO and board member of the Albatros Travel Group, described the launch of the first Halal-certified cruise to Antarctica as “an exciting milestone” for the company.
While the cruise welcomes travelers of all religious backgrounds, the Muslim-friendly environment ensures no pork or alcohol is served, and guests are prohibited from bringing outside food and beverages onboard.
In addition to Halal-certified dining accredited by CrescentRating, the cruise will offer ladies-only hours in the onboard sauna every day.
