Azerbaijan, a nation with a rich history and a significant presence in the global oil market, is embarking on a strategic journey with its Halal industry potential.
This initiative represents a bold move, steering away from its traditional reliance on the oil sector and positioning itself in the halal industry.
The country boasts of several strengths that form the foundation of its Halal industry potential. From its favorable climate, rich resources for Muslim-friendly tourism, stable economy and the combined growth in the transport and communication sectors makes it the ideal move forward.
In October 2023, IsDB in association with the Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur, Regional Hub in Türkiye and the Capacity Development Department, Government of Azerbijan held a workshop on Azerbaijan Halal Ecosystem Development.
The consultation workshop was initiated through a stakeholder’s consultation workshop held in Baku on 12-13 October 2023 involving all the related public sector agencies in Azerbaijan as well as key private sector companies active in the Halal industry as an inclusive consultation to understand the challenges, the strengths, and the potential opportunities.
The revamped Azerbaijan’s Halal Masterplan is expected to present a bold and strategic initiative poised to propel the nation into a new era of economic diversification and growth.
