Prior to Digital Durian taking on its current form, Sinan worked on it for a very long period. In 2008, Sinan started a multimedia business, and in 2010, he started offering wedding photography and filming services. Sinan, however, held fast to his dream of working behind the scenes on animated cartoons one day.
Early on in the development of their company Digital Durian, Sinan Ismail and his co-founder Hairul Faizal Izwan experimented with 3D modeling for the oil and gas industry. But they made cartoon characters based on the Malaysian Serama chicken breed since they loved animation.
Millions of viewers across 25 countries have seen the instructional animation series Didi & Friends on YouTube. Sinan made his departure from the cartoon series Didi & Friends known in December 2021. It sounds like he’s going to embark on a new journey from his parting note. A teaser and pilot episode for their cartoon series, Didi and Friends, were created by Sinan Ismail, co-founder and CEO of Digital Durian, and his team presented it to all local and international television networks.
The cartoon program marked their third try at entrepreneurship, having failed twice before. Unfazed, they improved their cartoon show by taking into account the broadcasters’ critique. Then, Sinan and his team decided to aim for one million YouTube views. Thankfully, the show achieved more than two million views and exceeded that target. With the numbers in their favor, they got in touch with Astro, the top satellite broadcaster in Malaysia, once again. This time, Astro consented to contribute to and share ownership of the intellectual property (IP) rights of Didi and Friends and a future program.
In 2021, the founders of Digital Durian convened to discuss the company’s future. Sinan liked stuff that had Islamic themes, but his partner liked to make cartoons that were meant for a wider audience. It was an obvious choice because, at the core of any successful firm, co-founders must share a common goal and ultimate ambition. Durioo is a tech business that creates animated Islamic content for YouTube and sells it to broadcasters, whereas Digital Durian creates animations for YouTube and sells them to broadcasters (Durioo Originals).
