The Global Halal Brazil Business Forum, established as Brazil’s leading Halal industry event, will return for its second edition on October 23-24, at the prestigious WTC Events Center in So Paulo. The Global Halal Brazil Business Forum (GHB), organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and FAMBRAS Halal, a recognized certifying authority, will bring together a distinguished group of specialists, government officials, and industry executives from both the domestic and international arenas.
ABCC President Osmar Chohfi emphasized the importance of the forum, underlining its role in highlighting Brazil as a reliable partner in the Halal market. “We’ll demonstrate the relevance of this market to Brazilian entrepreneurs and policymakers, while showcasing to our Arab and Islamic counterparts that Brazil is a strong and trustworthy trading partner in the field of Halal.”
The primary goal of the forum is to raise awareness among Brazilian entrepreneurs about the prospects available in the Halal market. It also wants to showcase Brazil’s key role as a global supplier of Halal meat, as well as its potential for further expansion into new sectors and involvement with other Muslim-majority countries.
The event was described as a historic milestone for the Brazilian Halal business by Ali Zoghbi, Deputy Chair of FAMBRAS Halal. “This is a watershed moment for the Brazilian industry.” We’ll bring together significant Halal exporters from various nations as well as Brazilian major figures to demonstrate Halal’s worldwide relevance, particularly for Brazil.”
Halal items, which are suitable for eating by Muslims in Islamic nations and around the world, must be certified by a recognized certifying authority.
Chohfi emphasized the economic importance of the Islamic market, adding that “the Islamic market comprises nearly 60 countries worldwide, with a population of 1.97 billion residents and an annual economic activity of USD 5.7 trillion.” It’s a substantial market.” Brazil exported around USD 23 billion in food and drinks to Islamic nations in 2022, extending its significant presence in this industry.
Brazil ranks among the top global exporters of Halal-certified food goods as the world’s largest Halal meat producer and exporter. It acts as a distribution point for these products to other Mercosur countries such as Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Brazil has a sizable Muslim population of 1.9 million people, which adds to the country’s importance as a Halal consumer market.
