A fresh and locally owned culinary venture has made its debut at Capital Mall in Olympia, heralding the inauguration of Smash’n Burger. The ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on August 3, followed by the official commencement of grilling for the public on August 11.
Nestled within the mall’s vibrant food court, this new dining establishment is the brainchild of Mariane Rony, whose fervor for cooking ignited her entrepreneurial spirit in 2020. Influenced by her accomplished business-oriented relatives, Mariane’s journey embarked upon a flavorful fusion of gastronomy and enterprise.
The inception of her passion project transpired in Lacey’s Muslim community. Mariane initiated her culinary journey with a pop-up restaurant at the Night Market adjacent to her mosque. The response was overwhelming – her delectable offerings quickly sold out, leaving patrons yearning for more. This triumphant trajectory continued as she brought her culinary creations to the Olympia Lakefair, garnering acclaim and encouragement. Notably, her participation at the Grays Harbor Fair earned her the prestigious Best Food Award.
With word of Mariane’s culinary prowess permeating the community, Capitol Mall recognized her potential. The time had come to elevate her endeavor to the next echelon – a brick-and-mortar establishment accessible to all. Thus, Smash’n Burger was born. Mariane’s personal, proprietary recipes grace every item on the menu. The hallmark burger, crafted from halal meat, is meticulously hand-formed and flattened into a thin patty. However, the pièce de résistance is her coveted Smash’n Sauce.
The utilization of certified halal meat underscores Mariane’s commitment to quality and cultural sensitivity. The meat originates from animals raised without hormones or antibiotics, adhering to Islamic guidelines for slaughter. This meticulous process mandates the complete draining of blood from the carcass, as blood consumption is prohibited in Islamic dietary laws.
