Indonesia’s 38th Trade Expo and Halal Expo 2023 Promoted through Business Meeting for Enhanced Cooperation

In a successful initiative, the Indonesian Embassy in Amman organized a Business Meeting to promote and share information about the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) and Halal Expo Indonesia. The event brought together key figures and business leaders from Indonesia, Jordan, and Palestine on the 9th of August.

The gathering aimed to connect importers, exporters, and distributors of Indonesian goods situated in Jordan and Palestine. With a participation count of 45, the event saw the presence of influential individuals such as Suhail Saidi, President of the Indonesia-Jordan Business Association; Mohammad Thneibat, Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners at Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC); Mrs. Maha Abu Shusheh, Honorary Consul of Indonesia for Palestine; Abdoo Idris, Chairperson of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (FKDIP); as well as four FKDIP members from Palestine.

The event commenced with a speech by H.E. Mr. Ade Padmo Sarwono, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Palestine. He highlighted the significance of fostering economic collaboration between Indonesia, Jordan, and Palestine. Over the past two years, trade between Indonesia and Jordan has experienced substantial growth, rising from USD 529 million in 2021 to USD 983 million in 2022. Notably, Indonesia’s economic engagement with Palestine also demonstrated a positive trajectory, escalating from USD 1.5 million in 2021 to USD 2.1 million in 2022. The Ambassador underscored the immense potential for further enhancing trade ties and economic interactions, thereby fortifying the bilateral relationships between these nations.

Suhail Saidi, President of the Indonesia-Jordan Business Association, shared his journey of successful collaboration with Indonesian counterparts in the furniture sector since 1977. He accentuated the potential of Indonesian offerings, including agricultural products like coffee and palm oil, as well as food and seafood items. Saidi emphasized the expansive market access Indonesia enjoys within the ASEAN region, capable of reaching a vast population of 600 million people.

The participants displayed keen interest in attending the forthcoming exhibition to explore novel products and contribute to the continued success of their existing purchases. Palestinian entrepreneurs exhibited particular enthusiasm for the Halal Expo Indonesia (HEI). The Indonesian Ambassador emphasized that the trade relationship with Palestine extends beyond commerce, signifying Indonesia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.

This event has effectively established platforms for advancing business and trade cooperation among Indonesia, Jordan, and Palestine. It serves as a stepping stone for bolstering economic collaboration that proves advantageous for all involved parties.
