When Taha Allahibi moved from New York to Macon a few years ago, he found it difficult to find halal foods, which are foods allowed under Islamic dietary laws. His friend, Wally Ottman, also moved to Macon a year later and the two friends decided to open a deli together that would offer halal foods. The deli, called NYC Style Deli, recently opened in Macon and is located next to Taj Indian Restaurant. The deli mainly offers takeout and has become popular for its Philly cheesesteaks, chopped cheese sandwich, and chicken over rice, which are all considered halal. The menu also includes burgers, sandwiches, wraps, wings and tenders with various sauce options, salads, sides, and breakfast options such as omelets, pancakes, and bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. Ottman manages the deli while Allahibi runs his other business, Macon Tobacco & Vapor 3, nearby.
