Halima Aden, a US-Somali model, has landed a new collaboration with modest clothing manufacturer Modanisa. Aden, who has been on myriad magazine covers and in print ads, has had a lengthy working history with Modanisa; in fact, she was the company’s first Brand Ambassador.
The catwalk model shared on social media this week that she and the Turkey-based platform have developed a new hijab and shawl collection called “Halima X Modanisa.” The new collection includes headscarves, turbans, and shawls in white, beige, brown, off-white, and black, as well as varied textures.
In addition to fronting campaigns and walking runways for Modanisa’s Modest Fashion Weeks in London, Istanbul and Dubai, Aden has previously produced a collection of headscarves for the e-tailer, which instantly sold out.
The fashion e-tailer is the world’s largest platform for offering modest clothing selections for veiled women, so Aden does not have to sacrifice her religious beliefs for the collaboration – the key reason she claims she left fashion in 2020.
In a released statement on Modanisa’s website, Aden said: “I want to celebrate women around the world through fashion and encourage them to be pace-setters and change-makers.”
