Shah’s Halal partners with UBS Arena as new concession option

The new UBS Arena in Belmont, home of the New York Islanders, now serves halal food.

Shah’s Halal, a popular family-owned halal food chain with over 19 locations on Long Island, has become the latest concession option for hockey fans at Elmont’s UBS Arena.

The company’s new location inside the arena, right off the main entrance behind section 107, will feel like any other Shah’s Express location, according to CEO Khalid Mashriqi.

The venue will be open all year for all events, games, concerts, and other activities.

“We’re excited about the partnership,” said Mashriqi. “They’ll have the main items which are chicken over rice, lamb over rice, or the gyro over rice, and falafel for a vegetarian option, or a pita.

“We have our signature sauces that top off the platters and the gyros: the Shah’s white sauce, the Shah’s hot sauce, and the Shah’s green chili chutney.”

The UBS arena will host over 150 major events per year, according to Mashriqi, and given that the majority of their Long Island customer base appears to be Islanders fans, he believes this is an ideal new home for Shah’s Halal.

“We just want to make sure the operations are to the standard of our other Shah’s locations,” he said. “We’re going to be closely monitoring that and hopefully everything goes smoothly.”
