First Korean Muslim to Translate the Quran

Dr. Hamid Choi Yong Kil hafizhahulloh, is the first native Korean Muslim to translate the Qur’an and Sahih Bokhari into Korean.

It took about 7 years to complete this translation project. He currently works as a lecturer in Islamic Studies and Arabic at a university in South Korea, in addition to being a preacher.

He attended the Islamic University of Madinah, where the rector at the time was Samahatusy Shaykh Abdul Aziz bin Baz rahimahullah. He held a special place in the Shaykh’s heart. He was frequently invited to the shaykh’s home and entertained there. Perhaps it’s because he’s from a Muslim-minority country.

Shaykh bin Baz admired him greatly, particularly for his depth of knowledge and moral dignity. Apart from translating the Quran into Korean, he also translated Sahih Bukhari, and he has over 90 titles of other written works, either self-written or translated into Islamic fields.
