RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said the GCC alliance would continue to play a role in bolstering security and stability in the Middle East region at the conclusion of the 42nd GCC Summit on Tuesday.
“We are looking forward today to building a prosperous economic bloc, and this requires creating a stimulating environment that depends on diversifying sources of income,” the crown prince said.
The GCC general-secretary, read the final communique, which stated that more teamwork would be required to meet future challenges and emphasized the importance of strengthening opportunities for women and young people as well as digital transformation in GCC countries.
“The leaders agreed on principles and policies to develop strategic cooperation and economic development integration among the GCC states, and to achieve the aspirations of their citizens,” Al-Hajraf said.
Gulf leaders focused on regional security and strategic relationships as they finalized last-minute preparations for the 42nd annual GCC summit, which will be chaired by King Salman in the Saudi capital on Dec. 14.
The summit was hosted by Saudi Arabia, following Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s tour of Gulf states last week. The summit, according to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, comes at a delicate and sensitive time. The security of the region will be a major topic on the agenda.
Every year, the summit is held to discuss economic, commercial, educational, and cultural integration and interdependence among Gulf states in order to promote their development.
