New halal restaurants have recently opened up all over Long Island, far from the food carts of New York City. These eateries have popped up alongside pizzerias and bagel shops in shopping malls all over the island. When it comes to the standard fare of lamb, chicken, or falafel, even the most ardent halal food fan might want to spice things up a little (or some delicious combo).
That’s why Jalapeno Shack’s owner decided to offer his own version of halal: Tex-Mex.
Khalil Nayl wanted to add some variety to the halal food landscape, according to a story on GreaterLongIsland.com. Tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and burritos with steak, chicken, ground beef, or vegetables are among the options at Jalapeno Shack, which may be familiar to halal fans.
The restaurant has received a lot of positive feedback on Google.
“First time going to this place the owner was a wonderful guy and really kind,” wrote Mehdi Abbas. “The food to OMG! It was so good that I’m definitely coming back here. I 100% recommend this place if you like eating Mexican food and best part is it’s Halal!”
Wasia Shaikh said the food was flavorful.
“The sauces have an amazing kick to them, my favorite was the jalapeno salsa,” he wrote. “The owner is very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back for more burritos and nacho bowls which were our favorite.”
