JEDDAH: Following the announcement of a new working system in the UAE, Al Sharjah’s Executive Council accepted a three-day weekend on Thursday.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the city’s government has decided to switch to a four-day workweek, running from Monday to Thursday, with the weekends becoming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
With the application of the new system beginning on January 1, 2022, government agencies’ formal working hours will be changed to 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
These decisions are in line with the UAE’s goal of improving its competitiveness in various sectors while also supporting the business environment and the economy.
Following the decision of other emirates to switch to a four-and-a-half-day work week, the weekend was effectively moved to Saturday and Sunday.
