On Sunday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman attended the Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
In a dramatic spectacle at the Jeddah Corniche circuit, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton won the race, which was the first-ever F1 to be held in the Kingdom.
The crown prince toured the pitlane before the race and was seen waving to cheering fans at the momentous occasion on the Jeddah seafront.
The race enthralled Saudi sports fans because it was the first time one of the world’s most famous motor racing tournaments was held in a Saudi city.
Before announcing the start of the race, the crown prince wished the players luck and praised the level of competition on display.
The victory keeps Hamilton in contention for the F1 championship as the teams head to the United Arab Emirates for the championship’s final race.
Several dignitaries, including Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad, accompanied Prince Mohammed. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Faisal, and President of the International Automobile Federation Jean Todt were also present.
The race was also attended by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Interior Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan.
