The World Government Summit will host its 8th Edition from 29 to 30 March 2022

The World Government Summit Organization will conduct its 8th Edition from March 29 to 30, 2022, on the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.

The World Government Summit (WGS) will be an exemplary edition, held in conjunction with the closing of “Expo 2020 Dubai,” with the theme “Shaping the Next Generation of Governments.”

The summit will carry on to play an important role in forming future governments, promoting global dialogue, and forging international partnerships. It also discusses the significance of rearranging priorities for the coming years and developing visions that will shape the future of governments and help them adapt to global change faster.

“The World Government Summit will be held in tandem with the closing of the ‘Expo 2020 Dubai’, the largest event of its kind that brings the world together, with an exceptional edition that would include 50 strategic sessions on various topics. The UAE will stand side by side with other government leaders, thought leaders and experts, with the aim of creating a better future for humanity,” stated Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Government Summit Mohamed Abdullah Al Gergawi.

He added, “The WGS was launched in 2013, under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to be the largest and most comprehensive platform that will envision tomorrow’s governments and create a better future for humanity… 7 distinguished editions of the Summit established strong international partnerships and set the future as its goal.”

The Eighth World Government Summit, with the theme “Shaping the Next Generation of Governments,” will prioritize on designing a better future for humanity, with an emphasis on predicting challenges, foresight, and finding viable solutions. The Summit will be organized around eight key themes, one of which is “Policies that Drive Progress and Government Development,” which will stress the importance of allowing governments to develop policies that promote government development and speed up government service advancement. The theme “Designing the Future of Healthcare Systems” will emphasize the importance of analyzing current health-care complications, redeveloping healthcare systems, improving wellbeing, collaborating with all stakeholders to provide holistic healthcare, and concentrating on community mental health.

The theme “Actioning Sustainability for Positive Impact” will highlight the importance of implementing comprehensive and long-term strategies that ensure that countries, governments, and societies have the resources they require. It will also emphasize the need for creative solutions to ensure that climate change goals are met. The session on “Accelerating Global Economic Recovery” will emphasize the importance of developing new economic policies and plans that will help to speed up recovery. The theme “Enabling the Future of Education and Work” will focus on the importance of workforce and educational agility. The theme “Building Cities of the Future” will emphasize the critical importance of constructing adequate and resilient infrastructures for sustainable cities. Furthermore, the “Empowering Societal Resilience” theme will address the need to empower communities in order to adapt to the quick changes that will occur in the coming years, as well as the empowerment of youth and women. Finally, the “Exploring the Frontiers” theme will shed light on foreseeing opportunities and upcoming trends.

The winners of the Best Minister Award, which shows the most prominent experiences of ministers around the world, will be announced at the summit’s eighth edition. The award will be given to leaders who have made outstanding contributions to humanity while also having a positive economic and social impact.

From its first edition in 2013 to its most recent edition in 2019, the WGS has hosted over 1,000 sessions and workshops. 25,000 people from all over the world attended the seven editions, with nearly 1,000 global speakers, including presidents, government leaders, ministers, officials, decision-makers, experts, scientists, and public and private sector executives.
