RAC and ADB Safegate launch next-gen airport management platform at KKIA

The platform will enable RAC to take full control of operations at KKIA by facilitating proactive and data-driven decision-making, improving planning, disruption management and utilisation of airport assets and resources.

The platform also acts as the central database for all operational information generated manually or automatically from different airport data sources. It provides all flight-related data accurately and efficiently in a real-time environment.

RAC’s ICT General Manager, Mr Mohammed S. Alshammari said: “KKIA is on a major digitalization drive. Our goal is to enhance the overall passenger’s experience by adopting advanced solutions and digitally transforming the Saudi capital’s Airport completely. This partnership will enable us to capitalize on the potential represented by the future passenger demand.”

ADB Safegate’s Vice President of Airport Systems & Tower, Sébastien Jodeau confirmed: “It’s an honour to be associated with King Khalid International Airport’s inspirational vision and further strengthen our long-standing relationship. KKIA’s digital transformation is to utilise technology to better use of data, to improve processes and bring stakeholders closer for a better outcome. We aim to help KKIA elevate its offerings and experience through our partnership.”

Riyadh Airports Company (RAC) was established in 2016, as a part of the privatisation programme of the aviation sector in Saudi Arabia. RAC is now managing and operating King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in the Saudi capital. RAC is seeking to be the leading voice for airports in Saudi Arabia and the region, focused on building an industry role model and operating a world-class hub for travelers, cargo customers and partners.

King Khalid International Airport was opened in 1983 in Riyadh. It is located over an area of 375 km2, about 35 km from the city center. It has five passengers’ terminals, 40 airbridges and car parking designed for 11,600 vehicles. The airport also consists of the Royal Terminal, the Central Control Tower and two Parallel Runways, which are each 4,260 meters (13,980 ft) long.

As part of the overall transformation journey that is happening in the Kingdom and in order to position Riyadh city as the destination for many travelers from all over the world, the management and operations of King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) have been entrusted to Riyadh Airports Company as a main milestone of a wide privatization program within the aviation sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
